Hans Tung joined GGV Capital in Menlo Park in 2013 as a managing partner to invest in consumer mobile internet applications, social networks, consumer and B2B marketplaces, digital media, consumer IoT, and mass-market brands with the potential to go global. Hans was a seed investor in, and former board member of, Xiaomi, a leading smartphone and IoT company based in Beijing. As an early investor at GGV, Hans serves on the boards of Wish, Musical.ly, Poshmark, Operator, Xiaohongshu, Smartmi, Zimi, 1More, Prynt, Grubmarket, and Wheelwell. He works closely with other GGV partners on their joint portfolio at GGV, including Airbnb, Slack, Offerup, Bustle, Mogujie, and Didi Chuxing. Hans is a four-time Forbes Midas Lister (since 2013) in the US, and was recognized by The Founder and CBN News magazines as a Top 10 most entrepreneur-friendly VC in China. He is a frequent guest on Bloomberg and CNBC in the US and Asia, and is recognized as a thought leader on US and Chinese tech innovations. Hans is a pioneer in cross -border investments and encouraging startups to go after the mass market first, target the next 1 billion consumers worldwide, and go global from the get-go.
